Today was my last day at IBM Australia. 6 years, 2 weeks. While I’m relieved, it feels a little strange without my laptops (yeah I had 2 – 1 was for giving product demos), IBM email access, IBM Sametime (instant messaging) and IBM intranet. The worst thing about leaving is the fact I no longer have free parking in the IBM building at Darling Harbour in Sydney CBD. Also had to cut up my corporate American Express and employee benefit card. All stock standard stuff.
2 things of note happened today at the office. One ironic, another coincidentally appropriate:
- Got sent a guide in my IBM mailbox from HR about “how to be an IBM employee”. Essentially a guide with useful numbers, links, tips etc. Ironic because it was my last day.
- My Zinger (which holds my badge to my belt with a retractable string) broke on my way to hand back my badge. Coincidental? I choose to believe it was a sign…not that I’m usually a believer in these things.
What next? Let’s get our butts to London! Oh yeah, there’s a whole bunch of logistical things that we need to sort out first. Almost forgot.
