A French bakery chain called Paul…more specifically, their Macaroons. Unfortunately, those of you back in Australia won’t be able to experience what I mean unless you visit. I’m sure there’s lots of nice bakeries throughout Europe (which I’ll be sure to try), but I’m in London so forgive me if you know of better bakeries elsewhere and I sound like a fool for thinking Paul bakery is great. As an example, let’s examine our day today (actually yesterday, because it’s technically Sunday now). Woke up late because we decided to have a quiet relaxing day. I suggested we walk down to Canary Wharf just to have pistachio macaroons. We ended up buying one for each of us and a bunch of smaller chocolate ones for later…they’re sitting on the table as I type this (no photo because I’m typing in the dark and can’t be bothered taking one). Whenever we’re out and about in London and want a break, the first thing I look out for is a Paul bakery. I’m hoping this is only a phase that will pass with time.

As a side note, I realise we haven’t posted anything for awhile. We’ve still been very busy finding somewhere to live. A lot has happened and  there’s actually quite a story behind the search (not including my REALLY LONG post from the end of March). Mimi promises to update everyone via a blog post. Yes, you read right. Mimi is actually going to make another entry on this blog soon. I’m probably going to get in trouble for making that statement, but maybe this will get me out of trouble…rare occurrences are more valuable. In other words, when you see that a post is written by me, you’ll skim it. When Mimi writes one, it gets read in detail.

P.S. Those of you reading this for informational purposes because you want to move to the UK, I found another useful property search site today – http://www.extate.co.uk. It’s quite good and even uses Google Maps to allow for a slightly different view of the listings. They also have this “Heat Map” which colour codes parts of the map. I’m not actually sure what the colours mean because there’s no key. That aside, I wish I knew about this earlier.
